Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has said he agrees with the amendments seeking recognition of Kosovo from Serbia, immediately but hints that it is impossible without dialogue.
“S and our partners arrived at this stage where we are, we have been recognised by 115 countries in the world, and we have become members of many international organisations. We are all aware that Kosovo's full and long-term stability is inevitable linked to Kosovo's membership as a state in the UN, NATO, the EU and all other international institutions. Kosovo will be a functional state by being a NATO member, being in the UN. We should be aware that these goals will not be achieved without building a good neighbourly perspective, taking into account good neighbourly relations with Serbia and that it would imply reaching legally binding agreement. There are trends that Serbia must recognise Kosovo, immediately, I agree, but I want to point in direct form and the most sincere way possible that today Serbia is not doing so. Someone thinks Russia will withdraw the veto from the Security Council for Kosovo, nor is this happening, and I am not seeing any attempts that one can convince Russia of such a thing”, he said, broadcast Periscope.
Thaci has said voices that say the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia will bring destabilisation are unstable.
“They are spreading concern or fear for allegedly destabilisation of the region or ethnic division in Kosovo, re-inflammating for any Kosovo agreement, Serbia will maintain the lifestyle of multi ethnicity. There is no panic, no fear, concern in the countries of the region if Kosovo manages to deal with Serbia for mutual recognition. Voices that say reaching the agreement destabilises the region are unstable, under no circumstances will take into account”, he said. /Periscope.
