Russia and Turkey have agreed to a demilitarised <x0) zone” between militants and government troops in Syria's Idlib, President Vladimir Putin said after months of talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. “We have focused on the situation in the province of Idlib, considering the presence of large militant groups and their infrastructure there,” [...]
“We have focused on the situation in the province of Idlib, considering the presence of large militant groups and their infrastructure there,” said Putin at a press conference after the talks.
“We have agreed to create a deilitarised zone between government troops and militants before October 15th. The area will be 15-20km deep, with the full withdrawal of hard-line militants from there, including Jabhat Al-Nusra [now known as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham]”, He added.
Idlib's province is the last in Syria to see the government forces backed by Russia and Iran. With the victory of this province, Turkey eventually loses its influence in neighbouring Syria.
