The leaders of two public companies, KEK and the Regional Waters Pristina remain concerned by the recent debate on exchange of territories with Serbia. These two companies and the Ferrnikli factory are supplied directly with water from Weiman Lake, and none of them can work without this water.
For this the director general of the Regional Waters Pristina, Ilir Abdullahu requires that Ujman Lake be preserved because it is part of Kosovo, but also says there is no other alternative for water supply at the Shkabish factory, which has cost less than 32.5m euros, these means of Kosovar taxpayers, from the European Commission and the German Bank.
He has said of Kosovo that Wyman's importance for the company, the state, but also for the population, because he provided water for Mitrovica, Skenderaj, Drenas and now Pristina's share.
However, in addition to providing water for the many consumers, Uyman Lake also provided industrial supplies for the thermoelectrics.
And for Ferronic, it also serves to water thousands of agricultural lands in the country.
Abulah: Weiman must remain state property
This lake is Kosovo's property and should also remain. This factory without this lake can't work. It's a factory that was launched in 2017 and now we have a 24-hour water supply... Three years ago, we made another attempt and a filling of Badovci Lake, or a lock through the Iber Lepenci Canal and pumps in Caglavica. So it's been predicted since years ago that by the time Lake Badovci remains at minimum levels, it's supplied by Uyman Lake. So even that situation, we have to manage and work in that direction because droughts can be presented”, Abdullah said.
The director of the Aqua has stressed that the topic of exchange of territories is disturbing because this company currently receives 500 liters of water per second from Lake Weiman. Abudullahu has said the water factory in Shkabai with Weyman's water has solved the problem of drinking water in Pristina and beyond.
Abdullah: The company gets 500 liters of water per second from Weiman
As a company every issue that you raise in this direction, it's also disturbing, but we want to not get to that level so we don't have that water... Our company currently receives about 500 liters of water per second, and its production capacity is 700 liters per second... This factory, except that it has resolved its water supply for 24 hours, has provided another security... Above all, we have a high-quality water because the factory that we're here now, is one of the most modern that's built and has the region. That's good, we'll save it, but without water it doesn't work”, he said.
While Skender Bucolli, director of the Office for Public Relations and Community at the Kosovo Energy Corporation(KEK), has said of Kosova Press, that Wyman Lake was built for water supply this corporation, and without this lake the KEK thermal power plants cannot function.
“Allow us to inform you about the permanent supply of TC Kosova B and during the summer periods of TC Kosova A with water, KEK has contracts with Iber Lepencin for water supply from Weiman's artificial lake. Otherwise, Thermocentrals cannot function without water, while the only real potential for supply of TC Kosova B is Water Lake, which was also built for that destination”, Bucolli said.
The Pristina and KEK pipeline are contracted for water service with the Hydroeconomic Company “Iber Lepenc”, but officials of the latter have been contacted by Kosova Preris have not responded to this topic.
The director of the Aqua, Ilir Abdullahu, has also said that Uyman Lake is one of Kosovo's largest assets, where there are 9.2 square kilometers of the water mirror or the surface of the lake located on Kosovo's territory, while 2.7km are in Serbia's part.
