Labour and Social Management Minister Skender Recica said today that Kosovo faces high unemployment rates for what the ministry he heads along with its partners, such as GIZ, is making maximum efforts to ease this situation.
He made these comments during a meeting with GIZ representatives- DIMAK (German Migration, Education and Carriera Information Centre), with which he talked about youth employment, expanding access to legal migration for employment of professional training of young people in the EU, in this case in Germany.
Recica said one of the main needs in terms of employment is the orientation of young careers because Kosovo is facing professional skills incompatible with labour market needs.
A short-term resolution would be the commitment of our young people to seasonal and temporary work in EU countries. The skilled workforce according to EU standards could promote foreign investments in Kosovo, because they would find qualified and cheaper workforce than EU countries”, he said.
And, Nina Theis, leader of GIZ- DIMAK at the centre level in Germany, said that the career orientation of young people is an issue to focus on future projects between GIZ and MPMS.
She said GIZ will offer all assistance needed to support MPMS and the Employment Agency in terms of easing unemployment, especially providing access to legal migration for employing Kosovo citizens.
