The 25-year-old, who played 10 with the national, had 1.5kg of marijuana and 330 grams of weed confiscated in his house.
He was arrested on charges of producing and selling narcotics and is now under house arrest while awaiting final decision by blue uniforms.
Italian newspaper “La Gazzetta” reported that Panico had 10,000 euros (8,919 pounds) hidden in his garden.
Panico, who plays for the Italian club Zebre, is suffering from an injury suffered last year, where he broke his jaw.
