Ibër Bridge won't open even this year

The main bridge over the Iber River will not open for flow of vehicles and people in 2018, though South Mitrovica Mayor Agim Bahtiri has given several dates -- last in May of this year -- when he has assured Mitrovicas that the bridge will open in June.

Now when the end of September is being offered and the fact that the work of revising the bridge in the northern part and building the pedestrian area on the “road is going too slowly, it is estimated that it will take a long time, perhaps by March 2019.

This, in addition to the fact that North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakic, has demanded that before the flow of automobiles and people be issued, the border that divides Mitrovica to the north and south writes further “Zer”.

Communist Administration chief in northern Mitrovica municipality Adriana Hodzic, talking about The RKP has assured that within the year, things will be completed on the bridge and around the Ibër main bridge, as well as complete the projects that are under way and for which over 500,000 euros have been invested.

Hodzic has said that the Northern Community has taken care of investments in all areas and in all facilities in the northern Mitrovica municipality.

In particular, Hodzic has focused on the jobs that are under way around the Ibër Bridge, in the pedestrian area on the “road respectively, King Peter”, which he said are not projects carried out by the northern Mitrovica municipality.

I think that whole part is a political project. I only hope that the project will soon be completed, as there is only one segment that represents the entire project, of course if it ends during this year”, Hodzic said.
