Belgrade and Pristina may agree to their solution, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said today, adding that there is no dilemma that all will support the agreement, even if it concerns changing borders.
“Belgrade and Pristina must work in the agreement, it may happen that someone does not like it, but everyone will support the agreement,” said Dacic.
“Great Britain and Germany speak against changing borders, but if it comes to agreement and if it is the only possible solution, I have no dilemma that it will be accepted. Even the big EU, which moderates the dialogue, will accept it,” said Dacic at the Conference for the Security of the Western Balkans and Serbia conference, organised by the Foreign Policy Centre.
He thinks the issue of determining and changing borders had been decided incorrectly at first.
The “can still be referred to if you want to come to the deal, if we want to come to the quick, stable solution, good for all”, the minister said, adding that this would be the “win-win” solution.
Asked whether change of borders is exactly the right solution, Dacic recalled the Serbian president's stance, adding that he does not know whether this was the only possible thing.
“Dialogue has been opened to find a compromise, now is the time to find a solution. It is not about the idea of changing borders, but France, the US, Russia, the EU, Italy, Austria, all agree that the chance of compromise is at risk and that it is not being considered that Serbia should recognise Kosovo, but seek solutions”, Dacic said.
