Bujanoc head: The whole valley joins Kosovo, not just Presevo

During an interview at “News 24”, Kamberi has commented on discussions on the border correction issue, or as political experts call it a border change.

The Presevo Valley has consistently had political demands towards Belgrade for the realisation of the rights of Albanians, who have encountered deaf ears. At no moment have the Presevo Valley political demands been the same as to undermine Kosovo's position in talks with Serbia. We have requested the principle of implementing reciprocity in relation to the rights of Serbs in Kosovo. Meanwhile, the idea of border correction has come up. This idea has already been put into public opinion, we have promoted it as an idea based on the March 1st and March 2nd 1992 referendum in which Albanians have been declared for territorial autonomy with the right to join Kosovo. We are expecting an international community response about changing or not changing borders”, he says.

But politician Shaip Kamberi stresses that if the parties agree on border change, then Kosovo should also seek Bujancin and Medvedja.

Whatever is important to us in the Presevo Valley is important and we have discussed with President Thaci and with other authorities in Kosovo is that the Presevo Valley should be treated as a whole in these talks. Serbia's idea of exchange of territories means giving the Presevo municipality in exchange for the 4 or five Serb municipalities that are in the north and in the interior of Kosovo. I believe President Thaci will not accept this idea. Acceptable to us would be that Albanians as a whole join Kosovo”.

Asked whether the option exists that in the new territorial exchange agreement Bujanci and Medvedja do not join Kosovo, Shaip Kamberi says “is a semi-official option, but we believe President Vucic” is behind this option.

Urging him to express clearly whether he supports changing borders, the head of the Bujanocyt municipality, Shaip Kamberi, again refers to the aspirin expressed in the March 1st and 2nd referendum of 1992.

We as a political party exist since 1990. Our policy of solving problems by participating in institutions has not produced sufficient results. The UCPM war, which was a major boost to realising our rights, gave in part results. The dialogue we have with Brussels after the end of the conflict has also been very modest. So if Serbia has not shown in all these years the political readiness to integrate 80 thousand Albanians in the Presevo Valley, then it is clear that it considers us foreign elements, does not want us, and if it does not want us to then the solution remains that we join our national trunk”, declares the head of the Bujanoc municipality Shaip Kamberi for “News 24<x>. / BW
