Ivo van Halen of Rotterdam was told 5 years ago by his parents that he was conceived by a sperm donor and that by genetic test he could identify the biologist's father and almost 60 half siblings in the Netherlands.
Halen, however, believes they represent only a small part of his large family.
After passing in shock when he learned about his parents ' secret, he was curious about revealing the identity of his biological father, but he could not get details from donor clinics because of the rules of anonymity. And then he went to take the DNA test. After taking the saliva test, Van Halen managed to get the resolution he wanted. Two months later a relative also took the test.
He said about The Times: I found my biological father and 42 half brothers and sisters immediately. ”
A Dutch government organisation for people conceived by donors estimates that as many as 1,000 children may have been conceived by Van Halen's biological father sperm sperm in over 20 years.
