Emeteiro Farias, the president of the league in which the two teams compete, has promised very tough “sanctions for players involved in mass disputes.
The incident began after the judge awarded Universitario a penalty, after which a Libertyd coach was sent to argue the verdict.
The situation was sparked when a University player started screaming with one of the opposing trainers on the other, pushing a Liberty player to push him.
Moments later, players from both teams were involved in a row, which left some injured players on the ground.
“Five of them threw me to the ground,” told La Nacion Celeste Racca, who was in the hospital.
