Valley doesn't want partial solutions to border correction.

Political representatives of Albanians in the Presevo Valley expect the promises -- given by Pristina officially on the issue of Albanians in three municipalities in southern Serbia, Presevo, Bujanoc and Medvedja -- will be realised. Bujanovac Mayor Shaip Kamberi tells Radio Free Europe that for the first time, Kosovo's president has taken responsibility to help improve the rights of Albanians in the Presevo Valley.
What we've unanimously declared across the political spectrum in the Presevo Valley is that partial solutions through border correction in one or two villages cannot be a good solution, because in the rest of the Albanian population, especially, leaving the minority, it will promote deportation. If this issue is presented, it should be overall with all municipalities”, Kamberi says.
Political representatives of Albanians in the Presevo Valley ask that in the final document of a possible Kosovo agreement, Serbia, the status issue of these three municipalities be involved.
Kamberi says given the difficult situation of Albanians in Albanian majority municipalities, statements that it will be worked by Kosovo institutions for their situation are hopeful.
When we take into account the difficult situation in which Albanians live, such statements must be hopeful, because it gives the first of the state, which we consider amma. He must be responsible for that. On the contrary, we are living in a state, which is known for its revenge policy against Albanians and any non-serious policy in this direction, could bring added pressure, as we have in the coming days in the presentations of Serbian gendarmerie in Albanian settlements. So, it's very serious issues that we believe the president knows well, and that's why he's given it to”, Kamber points out.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has declared that Kosovo and Serbia can peacefully do the correction of the border, citing with this case the inclusion of the southern municipalities of Serbia -- Presevo, Bujanoc and Medvedja -- within the territory of Kosovo.
The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo have consistently called on Serbia's authorities to respect the rights of Albanians living in the Presevo Valley.
The chairman of the Commission for Human Rights in Presevo, Belgzim Kamberi, tells Radio Free Europe that the citizens of the Presevo Valley must decide for themselves.
It's hard to say how successful this issue can be, but what we think about is that on the issue of the Presevo Valley, we have to decide citizens of the Presevo Valley, of course in consultation with official Pristina”, he says.
However, Camber says that prior to discussing the matter of borders and territories, respect for human rights in the Valley should be discussed.
“requires once to talk about the issue of national rights and minorities in general, but it is very important at this stage to solve these problems within the two republics, even within the framework of the Brussels dialogue, even to sovereignise and advance towards the sovereignisation of the Republic of Kosovo and recognition, and to see whether to speak of these topics or not, says Belshem Kamber.
Representatives of municipalities in the Presevo Valley say their political will is to join Kosovo and remember that they have expressed that will even through the referendum held in 1992.
In that referendum, which Serbian authorities do not recognise, about 97 per cent of Albanian voters in Presevo, Bujanoc and Medvedja, distributed in 71 settlements, were declared for <x0-territorial political economy with the right to join Kosovo”.
