Iraq and Turkey want to boost trade exchanges between them, and this was known because of the feasibility study being conducted jointly by these two countries.
Turkish and Iraqi officials announced plans Tuesday to conduct a joint feasibility study before the opening of a new border crossing between these two neighbours, the Anadolu Agency reports, broadcasts Klan Kosovo.
In a statement, for AA, Qazim al-Akabi, head of the Iraqi Committee for Border Crossroads, said he had recently met with the Turkish ambassador to Iraq, Fatih Yildiz, to discuss the proposal.
According to al-Akab, the two sides have agreed to send technical experts to the border region next month to conduct a feasibility study.
Officials from both countries hope the new transition will boost cross-border trade between Turkey and the majority Turkish areas in northern Iraq.
