Serbian politicians in Kosovo consider the idea of dividing or exchanging territories with Serbia dangerous, as a solution that would bring normalisation in relations between the two countries, Koha Ditore writes today.
Nenad Rassic, who leads with the Democratic Progressive Party and has long experience in Kosovo institutions, has said that changing borders could not pass without escalation of the situation. According to him, pushing and promoting such ideas pose a threat to security in the Balkans as well.
“Any form of division is the worst idea that can actually happen. The exchange of territories poses real security risks not only to Kosovo, but also to the region. Never have borders been changed, say, without tensions and conflicts”, former minister and deputy Rassic told the newspaper. If the parties enter into such discussions, he anticipates problems for his countrymen living south of the Iber River.
If any division is made according to the plans they have (politicals in Kosovo and Serbia v.j.), it would directly affect the lives of Serbian citizens in southern Mitrovica. So these are dangerous ideas from many aspects”, Rassic added.
But Rashi's former superior at Thaci Government 1, now president continues, promoting the idea of exchange of territory. Hashim Thaci has not called the press conference Tuesday, but has been declared through social networks.
