(8 years ago)It all started with a statement by Orthodox priest Sava Janjiq a few days ago who said that Mitrovica's Northern Serbs would declare autonomy on August 5th and, as a result, violence could also occur, and continue with the alarm of all institutions, including the European Union and the US. But this action of Sava Janjiq seems to have thwarted this [...] plan.
But this Sava JanJijq action seems to have thwarted the plans of this dark scenario after security institutions reacted immediately.
Kosovo police were put on full alert, while KFOR has sent troops and military vehicles to northern Mitrovica.
Meanwhile today, Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic has assembled the Security Council, and after the meeting Djuric was forced to call priest Janjiq a liar because there were no such scenarios.
Perhaps there was no such thing as Hashim Thaci, but the warning statement by priest Janjic was at least a reason to mobilise opinion and to take appropriate measures.
Kosovo and Serbia must continue the process of dialogue to reach a final agreement, as violence would not bring profit to either side, rather.
