The Ministry of Trade and Industry has ordered the withdrawal of all toys, which have resulted in harmful health content for children who are sold on the Kosovo market.
That has made it known for Radio Kosovo itself Minister of Trade and Industry Bajram Hasani, but he has not promised when all the toys of this kind will be withdrawn from the market because of the small number of inspectors on the ground.
Some toys we've launched have been informed of all companies, when we've taken these samples, to withdraw from the market. But it's very difficult in the domestic market to be controlled, because the number of inspectors is too small to control the entire market, but we will take measures. After the ban we made on customs, we will also begin on the domestic market to attract all toys that are of this”, he said.
Hasani said he will initially be asked by the Ministry of Education to withdraw from the gardens and other public institutions all these types of toys to continue with markets in the country.
However, Minister Bajram Hasani has not even stated whether imported companies will be punished for importing toys that do not adhere to the laws in force, saying there was no such decision in advance.
“I don't know, it's also the authority of the Inspectorate on how it will be assessed, but because it hasn't been such a decision so far, it hasn't been such a restraining order, maybe we can blame our institutions for not doing anything to prevent how many importers” themselves, Hasani said.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry has accepted the results of the tests for 15 types of toys imported from Asian countries, from which only one has proved to contain the required legal criteria, until all others have resulted in various chemistry, physical and other health - threatening content.
MTI has decided immediately after these tests that no toy of these types will enter Kosovo, while the value of such toys that have entered our country so far has been about 20m euros a year.
