Despite the closure of the so-called “Balkan Route”, migrants still arrive in Serbia, mainly from Turkey, via neighbouring Bulgaria.
Officials say there are about 3,600 immigrants in government camps in Serbia, which use smuggling networks to get there.
Serbian authorities have arrested dozens of smugglers, but should be stressed that cases of violence involving immigrants are rare.
