The two NATO allies are at odds over the case of an American pastor imprisoned in Turkey on charges of terrorism.
Christian pastor Andrew Brunson, who has lived in Turkey for more than two decades, is accused of helping a group led by Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara accuses of trying to coup Turkey in 2016.
He has been arrested since October of that year.
US President Donald Trump, and his deputy, Mike Pence, have threatened Turkey with strong sanctions if the pastor is not released.
Speaking to reporters in Ankara, Erdogan said Turkey would not compromise on the independence of the judiciary.
“won't attach importance to the threatening language”, Erdogan said.
