Kosovo Food and Veterina Agency “has responded to (AUV) The ERA that the body is decomposing and cannot be fully activated. The causes of death are still unknown”, said the EAR communiqué.
Reactions to this case have also been made by the head of the Peja municipality, Gazmend Muhhaxhiri, and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.
“Convenient Program for Regeneration (BLRP) doubts the lynx has been killed. The physical position of the dead lynx on the branch seems unnatural”, says ERA in the media communiqué.
After finding the body, The ERA demanded that he send the body by official order was sent to AUV's laboratory, Patology Sector and Histology.

They've taken the body but confirmed it's lynx and they've rated the body as decomposing. For further analysis ERA has received samples of genetic material and will be sent to Switzerland”, the ERA says further, Koha.net reports.
Peja Community Chairman Gazmend Muhhazier has said the lynx living in Kosovo is a rare species for the whole world.
I'm very worried we lost a lynx. I, as chairman, will do my best to maintain global value”, Mujarrier was quoted as saying.
The Ministry of Environmental Planning and Spatial Planning has also reacted to the case, which has voiced concerns also about the legal status of the lynx in Kosovo.
“The Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning shared the same concern with the organisation "Environmental Responsible Action (ERA)," lynx is a fully protected species, and its hunting is strictly prohibited even with the Kosovo Criminal Code, where Article 359, paragraph 4 predicts the sentence of 3 months to 3 years in prison for anyone who hunts endangered or rare animals. The MMPH appeals to all Kosovo citizens to report any suspicious hunting activities against rare and protected species with Kosovo laws”, the MMPH response reported.
These years have been five years since the ERA inventory wild animals with the focus of the Balkan lynx. In 2015, ERA under BLRP programme has confirmed the existence of lynx in Kosovo and so far The ERA says that only two lynx have been confirmed. Season 2018-19 of the monitoring programme will begin in October.
