President Michel Temer has held an emergency meeting Sunday, as regional tensions have sparked after Venezuela has been affected by a crisis of people fleeing this state.
Venezuela has asked the neighbouring country to provide security for its citizens.
In Ecuador, Venezuela's desperate residents have reportedly crossed the border by ignoring new rules of entry into another country.
Hundreds of people have been blocked Saturday, after Ecuador has adopted new regulations that residents of Venezuela who pass through Colombia must have currency passports and not just other identification documents.
Most immigrants are heading south to join other members of the family from Peru and Chile.
They are seeking better living conditions, following the worsening economic crisis in Venezuela, which affected rising inflation and halved food and medical products.
