Juan Carlos Bustament, 62, was shocked when he received his bill at Capfee Lavena at St. Mark's Square in Venice.
He paid 13 euros for two cups of coffee and 8 euros for two bottles of 25ml water.
Mr. The compass, from Santiago, Chile, shared his Facebook data and wrote: I don't know what you think, but 43 euros for two coffees and two bottles of water! )
His post went viral to Italy, with some commentators calling prices a <x0 malbitation”.
A Caffe Lavena manager reasoned on this, saying they were sitting outside in St. Mark's Square.
If they just want coffee, they can have it at the bar for 1.25 euros. If they want to sit outside and enjoy the music of the orchestra, see the bell tower and St. Mark's Basilica, then they're paying for a whole different experience”.
