The call for help has been answered by Cyprus, which has brought in 60 fire forces -- Spain, Italy, France and Turkey. Forest Fires There are 55km west of Athens, burning out of control on both sides of the Greek capital, destroying homes and encouraging residents to leave their homes.
Greece has been hit by a heat wave since Sunday, while meteorological services have projected temperatures of up to 37 degrees Celsius for Athens and 41 degrees Celsius in the central part of the country. What favors the fires most is the strong wind blowing in the country.
