In fact, a study by the Swiss Federal Institute of Science and Technology reveals that these toys can make the ideal habitat for bacteria and germs.
The research lasted 11 weeks and was carried out using new and used toys.
The authors performed several experiments: They have put toys in dirty, clean water, soapy water, and shampoo. Then they cut their toys off and analyzed them in the laboratory. The purpose was to see if exposure to water during the bath could create dangerous pollution.
The analysis of the results showed that toys usually used in the bathroom, such as rubber ducks, can actually be contaminated.
In the internal surfaces, experts noted between 5 and 75 million cells per square inch. In 80% of the toys that have been discovered bacteria and organisms found in hospital infections.
However, we can also see the good side because they strengthen the child's immune system. To avoid dangers, it may be helpful to replace old toys with new ones.
