He tried a year ago but failed to meet the challenge with himself, but Yane Petkov, a swimming instructor from Bulgaria, did not give up.
On July 24th, he swam for 3380m in Macedonia's Ohrid Lake, with his hands and feet tied and placed inside a sack, to regain a record Guinea that lost about 5 years ago.
The 64-year-old says he was aiming to swim for 3.5km. It took him about three hours to swim before he went ashore in Ohrid.
Petkov had set the record 2030m before in Ohrid, but held it for just three months, from September to December 2013, when an Indian traveled 3071m from the Indian Ocean. However, he did not swim bound in a sack.
