Ten books with 50,000 signatures -- from 124 thousand and 477 -- have been handed over to Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj for the return of priority in the field of education, to raise the quality of this sector in Kosovo.
Under the German GIZ project, “Increasing capacity at Education Start”, last year it started “The campaign for Better Education in Kosovo”, gathering over 124 thousand and 477 signatures through which it requires responsible institutions to turn the education field into priority.
In this case, Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, expressing thanks for this campaign, stressed that this campaign would have its influence on the Government he directs to turn the education issue into priority.
The goal and what I learned today is that last year the GIZ, along with all who supported it, has begun a petition for better education and has thus resulted in the collection of over 124 thousand signatures, some of which have been with them and handed over to them at the request that the Kosovo Government prioritize education. I said thank you to the students who are here for all the others who have worked. At the same time, I thank GIZ for the care it has made to pay attention to education. And today, like Kosovo with Parliament and the Ministry, I believe we have made a commitment. I did not give a precise promise on how the prioritisation of education will take place, but I assure you that this gesture will have its own impact”, Haradinaj said.
In the name of the students, Blond Shehu spoke, who submitted certain requests that they as students have in order to increase their quality in education.
“has been an important meeting for us. We've been talking about issues in education, obstacles, different things, and I believe that the prime minister and we, as one hand, will achieve these obstacles through... The main thing we're waiting for is to repair the books, the new curriculum, the tools of a lot of other”, Shehu noted.
While, Boris Scharlooski, leader of the GIZ project The CDB, has revealed three key requirements aimed at accomplishing through this project.
Our “Our campaign was launched on November 1st last year, along with 12 partner organisations from the donor community, partners of civil society organisations led by August. We have three different levels of demand. The first, as the prime minister put it, to make education a priority, including increased education budget. This budget increase then transfer for better quality in education, to primary education. That means better teacher training and training. School texts that are in line with international standards, pre-school education, training of school principals and the best involvement of parents and students”, Scharlooski said.
The main goal of the campaign is for education to become a priority in Kosovo and the Government to share the budget with a lot for education. /B. Syla/
