This is because a deadly tropical disease is spreading worldwide, causing them to disappear.
Known as mushroom infection has already spread throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, and Central America, writes the Daily Mail.
If the infection reaches South America, researchers warn that the world - consumed banana may face extinction.
Chemical treatment has proved ineffective in preventing the spread of the disease. About five billion Cavendish bananas are eaten each year in the United Kingdom alone. Plant biologists are rushing to create a hybrid of two species of banana in hopes of creating a resistant strain on infection. Banana Cavendish is currently the world's leading trade production. At first, it grew in large volumes from the Peak lagoon.
