Police spokesman Jay Naycker said the victims of the attack occurred on Saturday evening, as people in this minibus were returning from the funeral of a colleague.
He said the attack occurred between the towns of Colensos and Weenenen in the KwaZulu-Natal province and the victims were from the province of Gauteng. Police are investigating possible motives. Tensions between taxi drivers competing for the same roads sometimes lead to deadly violence in South Africa.
