Opposition responds negatively to Kadri Wessel's invitation

Parliament Speaker Kadri Veselin's invitation to a joint meeting with the leaders of parliamentary political parties to reach a national consensus on the new phase of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue seems not to respond positively to opposition parties. The country's largest opposition party, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), says there is still no official position on this invitation, but according to officials of this party, the answer will likely be negative.

So said LDK Secretary General Ismet Beqiri, once the deputy of this party, has told Kosovo Preress.

“As far as an invitation is concerned tomorrow, at a meeting that calls from the Speaker of the Parliament, we do not have an official position like LDK, but I consider that we should not go, and we do not have to go simply to say the LDK's stance. This is unnecessary because we are standing publicly and we are constantly saying it and I believe that our answer will be negative for such a meeting tomorrow”, Beqiri said.

He has even dismissed any possibility that the LDK would join the position in talks with Serbia.

“As far as the possibility of the LDK joining the position eventually in talks with Serbia we have repeatedly said that our attitude remains unchanged, we consider that these institutions are very weak and very fragile, unfunctional and lacking a legitimacy and power to make decisions. We consider that only new elections can be released by credit and functional institutions, so as a result of that, I'm saying once again we don't join any negotiating team for dialogue. The LDK has always been for dialogue, but not in this form and in this way, as well as with such institutions as we have. We need a empowerment of the legitimacy of institutions, and this can only be done through the free vote of Kosovo citizens”, he said.

Kosova Prees has also contacted members of the leadership of Vetevendosje (LVV), but the same have not indicated whether they will participate in tomorrow's meeting, saying they will consult and then provide answers.

Meanwhile, LVV chairmanship member Tinka Kurti, despite saying she will answer in a few hours, has not returned and responded to editorial calls.

Nor did the Social Democratic Party (PSD) reveal whether they will attend this meeting. This party's spokesman, Shkodran Hoti, has said there is no information as to whether they received such an invitation.

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), even though it is part of the ruling coalition with the Democratic Party led by Wessel, still do not have an official position on whether to attend the meeting.

AAK parliamentary group chief Ahmet Isufi, though he has said they have not yet considered whether they will participate, said that since the beginning of the tables with political parties they have expressed themselves ready to make their contribution.

“Ende we have not considered, but of course we have said from the beginning of the meetings that have been asked for the table that we will always be willing to make our contribution”, he said.

Otherwise, according to the invitation that Kosova Prees has published during today, it is said that the meeting will be held tomorrow, Monday, at 10:00 in the Kosovo Assembly. The meeting will be closed and each political subject will be represented on the basis of 1+1 format
