The opposition in Macedonia demands amnesty for violent events in Macedonia's Parliament on April 27, 2017. V chairman MRO DPMNE, Hristian Mickovski in the protest march of this party in the southern city of Strumica, in southern Macedonia, said the accused of “terrorism” for last year's events are innocent and that the whole case according to him is orchestrated to intimidate the population and to fight all those who do not think that power.
There are five VMRO-DPMNE deputies who are charged with something they have not done responsible for terrorism. Never think that I have forgotten those brothers and sisters who are now in prison and who are part of the political campaign against any Macedonian who thinks freely. For this I call for amnesty for persons from the events of April 27th ... we cannot move forward if we live in the past and that's what we will fight”, Mickovski has declared.
For the events in the country, 30 people are charged with “terrorist endangerment of constitutional order”. Among them are five deputies who are accused of helping the move brought before the Assembly to enter the Assembly.
VMRO's leader, meanwhile, has also been motioned for the deal with Greece, calling it harmful for Macedonian national interests, while in the referendum, he did not provide details about the position the opposition will hold.
The government has not commented on the opposition's accusations, but as far as amnesty demand is concerned, Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski has said that “this does not come up in an expression, because any who committed crimes or who violated the law must respond to justice bodies”.
Regarding violence in the Assembly, Albanian MP Zijadin Sela's attackers have also been convicted Thursday. The 7 people charged with the assault have been sentenced to 82 years in prison.
