KFOR Sėia has handed over border checkpoint management in Karacheva, s'let alone

KFOR has not given the mandate to the Kosovo Police to oversee this part of the border, just as it has handed it over to other border lines.

Until, since 2014, the police have been banned from KFOR and the exploitation of the “By Pass” road, which enables circulation in the villages of this area.

Kosovo police have asked KFOR to allow the use of this road, but so far do not get any answers.

“The border line model with Serbia, the Karacece, Upper Karatche village, and the Belgrade lag is impossible to realise by the Kosovo Police, due to KFOR's ordinance of May 12, 2014, which prevents the use of the “By Pass” road, which has enabled police to have access to these villages. Kosovo police have had several meetings with KFOR, where it is required to allow the use of the road to oversee this part of the border, but has so far received no answers. In spite of that, Kosovo Police are also present at the border with Serbia and oversee this part of the border in co-operation with KFOR”, the Kosovo Police Information Office says in response.

KFOR, on the other hand, says such stops are not related to problems between the Kosovo state and the Serbian state.

Through a written response, officials from this institution have told KTV that they are working in full co-ordination with institutions to include Kosovo Police in Karacheva.

The current agreements with the Serbian Armed Forces refer to the Administrative Border Line, which is a reference line created only for military purposes and has nothing to do with issues related to border demarcation problems or the two governments. KFOR has no responsibility in issues related to borders or claims about them”, Vincenzo Grasso, from KFOR, has said.

Meanwhile, Kosovo has not yet made the demarcation of the border with Serbia.
