Israel's Parliament adopted a contractary law, characterising this country as a predominantly Jewish state, causing outrage in the Arab minority.
The Law of “national state” says that Jews have a unique right to national self-rule and produce the Hebrew language over Arabic.
Arab lawmakers reacted in anger to parliament one waved a black flag, while others ripped the law apart.
Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said that passing the law is a “term defining”.
“A hundred-and-a-half years after [the founder of modern Zionism, Theodore] Herzl made his vision known, we, by this law, determined the founding principle of our existence”, Netanyah said.
“Israel is a national state of the Jewish people and respects the rights of all its citizens”, Netanyah added.
The European Union voiced concern for the law, saying it could complicate the solution with two states of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
