A woman born without a vagina has become the first to be rebuilt by one of the fish's skins.
It underwent an operation, procedures conducted by Ceara Federal University, Klan Kosova reports.
23-year-old Jucilene Marinho, from Brazil, was born with Mayer-Roquitiansky-Küster-Hause (MRKH), leaving her without the neck of the uterus, womb or ovaries which meant she would never have children.
Marinho's vagina was rebuilt with the skin of the freshwater whale.
The skin of the fish then sank into her body and transformed into tissues that left the vaginal leaf.
After spending three weeks in the hospital, Marinho, the first of four patients given the procedure, was released and is now satisfied with the results.
Lady Marinho, who erupted into a deep depression when she thought she would never have intimate relations, has even been able to have sex for the first time with her boyfriend for more than a year, Marcus Santos reports Klan Kosova.
