The man behind the decision to grant 53m euros to the company, Bechtel Enka, Minister of Infrastructure Pal Lekaj, has appeared at a conference on Friday afternoon. With a lot of documents before him, Lekaj has tried to explain the controversial decision on sharing this money.
Former Infrastructure Minister Lutfi Zharku has reacted to this conference. He's saying Lekaj didn't argue anything.
Even at the conference he called out in a big hurry, Minister Lekaj did not make public a single document”, wrote on Facebook Zharku.
He's been saying that Lekat needs a few more days to prepare the facts.
“> Apparently, the minister also needs weekends to prepare “docuures” that do not exist”, former minister Jakur said.
Minister Lekaj, at the news conference warned for the media, has unveiled a review of the contract's history between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Bechteli. He has not said reasonable clarifications as to how Bechtel-Enka's additional cost of 53m euros was set.
Lekaj has accused former Prime Minister Zharku of the situation created about the contract between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Bechtel-Enka for the Pristina- Hani and Elez highway. The 53m-euro damage, according to Lekaj, resulted in the failure to comply with Bechtel's payment agreement every year.
The ministry through this agreement is saving from the risk of losing even more vessels”, Lekaj said.
He says the cost of 53m euros resulted from the extension of payments and inefficiency of the past government to respond financially to Bechtel as the contract was envisioned.
And the company “Bechtel & Enka”, through a communique during the day, has said the government's decision to allocate 53m euros does not reflect their full costs related to extension of jobs, but is the result of long-term co-operation with the Government of Kosovo..
