Ambassador Donald Lu has reacted to ever stronger voices pointing to the paralysis of the Constitutional and High Court.
But unlike those who think the courts are in existence because of the property and the transitional phase of establishing new institutions of justice, the American ambassador says that blocking courts is due to the corruption of judges, writes the pencil.al.
Asked by News24, the ambassador answered:
“Veting is working. Many judges and prosecutors have been dismissed because they could not justify their enormous wealth or show they had the right integrity to serve justice in Albania. Some people have criticised the process because it has hampered the functioning of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court. I don't think so. It was corruption that prevented the functioning of these courts for years. Vetting is fixing this. Soon Albania will have a system of clean judges and prosecutors, which have”.
