In an interview for “Kahen Ditore”, writer and publisher Nazmi Nundman says that the book in Kosovo today has relatively small circulations, so the price of books is higher.
According to him, nothing special has been done in this direction for the book to have more readers. Pummer says government has been playing with tax for T VSH for the book, removing and restoring.
According to him, however, even removing this obstacle has no major impact on the book price. This, according to him, is also taxed by printing presses, as well as all the material used for the book and the work around it.
He admits that there are no statistics on the scale of reading in Kosovo, but he expresses concern that more and more libraries are being closed and transformed into cafes. The tools the Ministry of Culture divides for the Book considers insufficient, while stating that the Council of Book never co-operates with the Council of Libraries.
According to him, this Council has even violated rules in the final competition. It says that the books of Kosovo authors are symbolically present in Tirana, the cause of legal barriers and requires that relevant infrastructure be built for “creating readers”.
