“Kandidati, identified as Emigdio Lopez Avanano, 50, belonged to an indigenous community”, according to the Mexican Ministry of Justice, writes ATSH.
He ran in local elections, while Mexico will choose on Sunday, besides the new president, more than 18,000 officials at the federal, regional and local level.
Crime is a central election issue, as more than 100 elected candidates or politicians have been killed since the campaign began.
