First quarter without changes in import prices index

Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) has published “Import Awards (IÇIMP) for the first quarter (TM1) 2018.
The overall import prices index in Kosovo was unchanged (0.0%) at the TM1 2018, compared to TM4 2017.
Despite not changing the import price index to TM1 2018, compared to TM4 2017, some price reductions in certain sectors are noted.
According to the media report of this agency, the largest price declines in sectors were in: shoes (-13.0%); plant products (-5.0%); skin and articles from it (-4.2%); living animals and animal products (-3.7%); nutrients (-1.1%); machine and electrical equipment equipment (-0.9%); food products prepared, drinks and tobacco (0.8%); optical instruments, cameras, measurements, and musical instruments, as well as clocks (0.8%).
The decline was neutralised, mainly by the raising of prices according to sectors: basic metals and articles from them (3.3 %); plastic, rubber and their articles (2.6%); textile and its articles (2.0%); mineral products (1.5%); stone articles, mortar, ceramic and glass products (1.2%); different products produced (01%); and its paper and articles (01%).
Meanwhile, import prices in Kosovo rose to an average of 1.4% in TM1 2018, compared to the same period last year (TM1 201&). Larger lifts according to sectors were to: basic metals and articles from them (12.3%); textile and its articles (6.1%); plant products (4.8%); plastic, rubber and their articles (3.6%); stone articles, mortar, ceramic and glass products (3.2%); mineral products (1.6%); nutrients (1.4%); transportation vehicles (05; and wood and its articles (02%).
The rise was neutralised, mainly by the fall of prices according to sectors: shoes (-13.5%); its skin and articles (-10.5.%); its paper and articles (-6.1%); the living animals and animal products (-2.7%); the various items produced below 2.7%); the machinery and electrical equipment (-2.5%); the food items prepared, drink and tobacco (-1.8%); the optical instruments, cameras, measurements, mandinals and musicals, and clock mechanisms (-14); and the chemical industry (07%).
