“I am here to ask what I can do to help”, said First Lady, who arrived in Texas to look closely at the conditions under which the immigrant children, separated from the parents, have sparked controversy against President Donald Trump.
According to a White House announcement, the purpose of the first lady's visit was to thank order forces and social services for their work, to support them, as well as to listen to different opinions about how the administration can act to reunite children with their families.
The fate of hundreds of children without documents, separated from parents, remains unclear one day after President Donald Trump decided to withdraw from his previous policy. He ordered the children Wednesday to stay with their parents, who are sent to jail under criminal charges of illegal border crossings.
But according to American law, immigrant children cannot be held in prison for more than 20 days by immigration officials at least 2300 children have been separated from their parents after crossing the border illegally since May 5th.
