Forecast of meteorologists: This summer, Balkans will be hit by unprecedented heat

The Western Balkans, and especially Albania, will suffer an unprecedented rise in temperatures, up to 5 degrees Celsius more by the end of this century, says a recent study of the Regional Co-operation Council on the issue. The study in question is unique in its kind, as for the first time, an issue as sensitive as global warming affects our region. The study is funded by the European Union.
The report points out that the region is taking on the shape of a sub-tropical climate, which means that coastal and southern areas, such as Albania, will be increasingly hot and dry during the summer season, the season that will last even longer over the years, writes Scan.
Such figures have been observed in recent years. The sign clearly shows that Albania is one of the most affected countries by climate change in the region, with rising significant temperatures, as in the near future, up to 2035, with about 1 degrees Celsius.
Until the end of the century, projections speak of temperatures of up to 5 degrees higher. But the alarm stays not only here, but also in the rainfall that is designed to increase by 30% by the end of this century, and by about 5% in the near future.
In this direction, Albania will be one of the most hit countries, the report says. Another projection, meanwhile, shows that Albania will have months of prolonged drought and winter months of intense rainfall.
In the middle of this century, this situation will be alarming, and at the end of the century it will be extreme. The heat waves in Albania and the region are also projected to rise sensitively.
Climate change translates into a heavy burden on the economy, bringing only problems to people's health and flora and wildlife disorders, drinking water problems, natural habitat disorders, parks, etc.
For this reason it is recommended that countries in the region make more efforts to reduce greenhouse gases and implement the Paris Agreement. /Okéu. com/
