News that in European markets circulates eggs infected with the Fipronyl insecticide has raised fears and in Kosovo consumers, for the quality of the eggs on the market.
They prefer to consume local eggs, as they are not sure of the quality of eggs that come from import. But, Kosovo's Veterina and Food Agency, says that over 90 per cent of the eggs on the Kosovo market are local and that there is no reason for doubt about the quality of eggs located on our market, as they are controlled.
Aynie Canolli, who had chosen the market to be supplied with eggs, says she buys local eggs because she believes more in their quality. And it doesn't prefer to consume eggs derived from import because it says that it doubts their background.
I trust all of this. They're saying they're local. This is where I take everybody. Once the other kudo or meat or eggs are poisoned. I prefer it here most. Even when they're homeick, they're taking them somewhere saying they're home and they're not doing well... Imported from the outside where they brought them. What, are they to be turned old, I don't prefer to take. I'm all over here getting “, he said.
And the same concern, there is Magbule Maliqi, citizen of Pristina. She says she usually buys local eggs, as what is imported is not known for their quality and what they contain.
And we're taking into account that the eggs are used a lot and we're considering that the eggs are bought themselves from local farms, so we know where they're from and if anything happens to whom you're buying them. Because of food background, quality”, she said.
But AVUK, ensures that citizens are carelessly consuming eggs on the Kosovo market.
Lamir Thaci, an information official at the Kosovo Veterina and Food Agency, tells Kosovo that all suspicious cases of eggs occurring in the EU are reported to them and that there are no import from countries suspected of being infected with Fipronyle.
In recent years, we have had no import at all from these places, where the fipronill is present at the egg. So as a problem we are not affected and we can feel secure. On the other side of last year, when for the first time the fibronil presence in the eggs was presented, we as authority engaged additional teams. We've made additional demands so that we can get our lab. To create methods and to do so, we have the capacity for lab testing in fibronillal, and we've achieved this in the past year. Now more than we have the methods, developed in the lab and the food for laboratory testing, the presence of the fiber in the egg. And last year, we took samples at the manufacturer's decision, conducted laboratory tests and all these samples have resulted in negative and there is no doubt about the fibroil presence in the eggs, which are sold on the Kosovo market”, he said.
Thaci even says Kosovo has very little import eggs, since 90 percent of the market is covered by local producers. And the few imports done are made by neighbouring countries, which are not affected by this problem in terms of egg quality. .
In recent years we have very little import of eggs. It's a very small amount. It has largely been from the region from the countries of the region, which are not affected by this problem. But in the last year almost 90 percent is covered by local producers. It's a very small percentage, we've had imports from the region... all the eggs in the market, are controlled and tested in terms of the fibroil. We've had cases when we've removed eggs from the market for other problems, for not getting properly declaration, or running deadlines or other problems, for them and for inspectors. During regular inspections, we may encounter, and in any case when there is any doubt, then the eggs leave and eliminate”, he said.
Thaci says that at moments when consumers warn them of suspicious products, AVUUK always acts on time in order to prevent any eventual suspicion, involving food products, so that suspicious products do not go to the consumer.
Otherwise, days ago some 73,000 eggs originally from the Netherlands and infected with the Fipronyle insecticide were withdrawn from the German market.
The eggs were discovered in August 2017 in Europe.
In total, millions of infected eggs and byproducts were found in 25 of the 28 EU member states. Millions of eggs were buried or pulled by European supermarkets as well as a large number of products such as cookies and cookies. The products attracted mainly originated in Belgium and the Netherlands. But some products were produced in France, with eggs coming from the Netherlands.
