PDK MP Blerta Deliu-Codra has praised the change in the Kosovo Criminal Code, saying the fight against crime and corruption will become easier.
According to her, family violence sanctioning is also highly needed, since she says that family violence statistics are disturbing, since in 2017 there have been 1196 cases of domestic violence reported.
“The changes that have been made in this code project are facilitating steps for fighting organised crime and corruption, but still strengthening rule of law as one of the main criteria for a democratic and prosperous state on its European journey. As an MP, I am pleased that a special article for the first time sanctions the issue of sexual violence because sexual violence was mentioned, on domestic violence issues, where sanctions will reach up to three years”, Deliu-Codra said.
