Delayed call for consensus over dialogue

A few days before the meeting in Brussels with counterpart Aleksandar Vuciq, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, has sought consensus on dialogue, not only from political parties, but also from the media and civil society. But this demand by the first state is not being taken into account by civil society and the media. According to them, this is the late move by President Thaci.
Life Krasniqi, project manager for dialogue at the Kosovo Democratic Institute, tells of REL that the need for consensus was born a year ago when it was understood that Kosovo and Serbia are going towards the conclusion of the dialogue.
The support that civil society can give this process is welcome, but above all, it is a state process, where there should be a consensus among political parties, there will be a co-ordination of institutions, and they will certainly form groups of experts on issues, which are expected to be discussed under this” process, says Life Krasniqi.

Meanwhile, analyst Imer Mushkolaj estimates that this request by President Thaci is delayed. According to him, the media have consistently carried out their work in the best possible way regarding the dialogue report.
Mr. Thaci has known that soon the new phase of dialogue with Serbia will begin, and this call, or exactly the effort to reach consensus, has had to do much earlier. Now when he's making such a call, I mean that on Sunday the next meeting or the first meeting for the final phase of the dialogue is held, therefore it's too late to reach such a” consensus, Mushkolaj estimates.
President Thaci has extended public invitation to political subjects for involvement in dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
His calls for an internal political consensus and compromise over this phase of dialogue, the opposition political spectrum has responded negatively.
Even at the last table organised by the Social Democratic Party, it has been proposed that the process of dialogue with Serbia lead the Kosovo Assembly.
However, on Sunday, June 24th in Brussels, the next meeting between Kosovo and Serbia will be held at the presidential level.
This meeting will focus on discussing the agreements reached so far, the challenges of implementing them, as well as on the further steps towards normalising relations.
