Parliamentary Commission for Kosovo in Serbia Chairman Milovan Drescu has said today that tomorrow's round of talks in Brussels is very important.
According to him, tomorrow will show whether the dialogue has perspective or will continue only because it should remain alive.
“There is no dilemma that the meeting will determine the further course of the event, whether implementation of what has been agreed or going to the stage when the talks, which will resolve Kosovo's final status, continue”, Drescu told RTS.
When it comes to Kosovo's possible partition, Drescu has said Serbia has made clear that any declarations for Sandzak and Valley to join Kosovo are stories to destabilise Belgrade's position.
“I think that we will in the future face Pristina's effort to trade with the Serb Communist Community, will blackmail us”, Drescu said, reminding him that Pristina has announced that the AKS cannot be formed before signing a final agreement, but also the energy issue is resolved.
Drescu says the most complicated situation is the position of Brussels and Washington, which still leaves room for final agreements between Pristina and Belgrade.
According to him, the US has a more flexible approach than European states that recognise Kosovo's independence and remains to be seen what are the instructions Brussels has given Albanians how to behave in the coming period.
If the process were to continue on technical issues, then no direct involvement of the United States would be required, Drescu said.
“Talks on resolving Kosovo's final status are evident that they cannot happen without the presence of major powers, the UN, the EU. The United States certainly has control over Kosovo, so the solution must be agreed on by Russia and verified in the UN in this evental format, Serbia will seek support from a country supporting its interests”, Drescu said. /Lajmi.net/
