It has become a custom for many since they are sleepy or tired. Coffee - found caffeine is known for stimulating the brain and helps to combat feelings of fatigue. But drinking coffee is addictive and you're going to sink into its effects. And the worst part is that sleep turns even more vengeful a few hours later. Other alternatives, especially those without caffeine, are thus offered.
One alternative is drinking orange juice. According to one recent study, a glass of orange juice (equivalent at 240 ml) can help stimulate the brain and keep it in shape on a tiring afternoon.
The study included 24 males who conducted several mental tests in two days:
First day, they drink a glass of orange juice before mental tests.
On the second day, they drink sugar water that had the same taste as orange juice.
After analyzing the results, researchers found that the males performed better, were faster, and focused on the first day when they drank real orange juice.
According to researchers, orange juice is more efficient in brain stimulation because instead of caffeine it contains flavonoids, a group of plant substances that help improve health. These substances improve the circulation of blood, causing information to pass faster on to nerve cells.
To be alert and focused, consume more orange juice than coffee.
