Another blow of Serbia for Kosovo sport this time in boxing

This is due to conditions Serbia has imposed on the state of Kosovo, respectively, this Federation, which is a full-fledged member.

The Serbian Federation through one email has confirmed to the Federation of Kosovo that, “will be allowed to participate in this Assembly only as SAP Kosovo* (Provinca Socialist Autonomous of Kosovo)”, the condition that is unacceptable to the Kosovo Professional Boxing Federation.

In the EBU agenda part of the participating states in this Assembly, which will be held on June 2nd, Kosovo also figures.

In the argument of Serbian Federation Secretary-General Luka Popovic to the president of the Kosovo Professional Boxing Federation, Nexmedin Zeka reportedly, “due to poor events in Kosovo, we have been informed that we are allowed only to use the name SAP Kosovo* with banners. The name only Kosovo is not possible to use. You know that the state of Serbia does not recognise Kosovo as an independent state, so it is not in my power to make” decisions.

This condition for the Federation of Kosovo is unacceptable, and for that it has made the decision not to be part of this event.

Zeka has declared that this move of the neighbouring state will affect, if not by suspension, at least with a loss of authority.

“Ende is putting political interest in sports. I believe this will cost you, if not safely suspension with loss of influence and authority”, Zeka said about Time.

Zeka has also informed the European boxing authorities of these conditions in Serbia.

Unfortunately, they cannot participate in the EBU General Assembly because we are concerned that we are not allowed by union (Serbia's Union) to be represented as the Federation of Kosovo. We as the Federation of the state of Kosovo are accepted as a member of the EBU, and I think we should be introduced to every General Assembly of Kosovo, no matter where it is held”, Zeka wrote in the letter sent EBU's.
