Although, on average, 1.5 percent of children are born more than girls each year, Serbia's capital is packed with single women. If we were to observe the capital through figures, we would find that there are 96,674 more women in Belgrade than men.
According to Secretariat's data on the Department of Statistics Administration, women have 52.8 per cent, and the strongest sex is “only” 47.2 per cent. According to this institution's analysis, based on a representative survey from 2016, there are currently 1,74,000 people in Belgrade. Of this number, 910,337 are women and 813.663 are men.
According to demographic Vladimir Nikitovic, this disproportion between men and women in practice is easily explained. The difference in the number of men and women affects the fact that ladies on average live longer than men. However, migration is a very important factor, Blic” reported, the Periscope broadcast.
“People who are more often, in search of work and a better life, decide to change their habitat. In most cases, they go abroad”, Nikitovic explains.
According to experts at the Institute of Social Sciences, an important factor affecting the distribution of men and women is that young males are more likely to die in their new years.
From January to April 2018, exactly 8,429 citizens died in Belgrade. At the same time, 5,882 babies were born. For the past ten years, however, artificial inland migration has increased by over 220,000 new residents.. /Periscopi/
