The new Spanish prime minister has placed an astronaut at the head of the Ministry of Science, in a cabinet dominated by women, the Guardian reports, Periscopi traces.
Pedro Sanchez announced today that Pedro Duque, a 55-year-old who had been on two space missions, will serve as minister for science, innovation and universities in his administration.
Duque, who had left the country in 1998 and 2003, responded on Twitter to this appointment, saying he would like his mother to be alive to feel proud of him.
