Selling it and two other bottles of the same type (e.g. 1774 sold for 76,250 and 73,200 euros) was held in Arbois, a municipality in the Juras Department, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comte region.
The three bottles, which may be the oldest in circulation, contain a wine produced by oenologist Arbois Anatoile Verce (1725-1786) and were in possession of his descendants. Their buyers are Canadian citizens.
