The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Friday said that 10 countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and its neighbours, are at risk of being affected by the deadly Ebola epidemic.
“We are very concerned, and we are planning all scenarios, including the worst”, said the WHO-based emergency response chief Peter Salama. Up to 18 people are suspected to have been affected by this virus so far.
Salama said WHO officials are very concerned about the massive spread of Ebola in Congo and the Central African Republic.
The outbreak of this virus is the ninth since its discovery in 1976 in Zaire, reports “DW” Transmission Periscope.
More than 11,000 people have died as a result of the infection that erupted in West Africa, after the virus had been spread to Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. Nearly 29, 000 cases have been recorded since March 2014 until March 2016.
The symptoms of this virus include fever, intense weakness, and vomiting. The growing period ranges from two to 21 days. /Periscopi/
