Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel said the deal with Iran was best on all other agreements during a conference with Russia's President Vladimir Putin on Friday, where she criticised the battle in eastern Ukraine at their meeting in Sochi.
Merkel had spoken at a press conference with her homolugus Vladimir Putin on several issues she opposes as Russia's support for Syria President Bashar Assad's government and its role in the conflict in eastern Ukraine, reports “DW” Transmission Periscope.
The two leaders agreed that it is necessary to achieve peace in eastern Ukraine and to work in the format called “Normandy”, including Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine.
Merkel stressed that Ukraine should remain a transit gas site even after the opening of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline said Germany was “ready to play its role in this direction”. The Russian president has also agreed on the matter.
Putin also spoke of Trump's warnings to the gas pipeline, “I understand the president of the United States, he protects his country's interests. He wants this product included in the European market”, he said, adding that “Donald is not only president of the US, but he is also a good actor”.
