The new study published in the “Nature Communications” shows in detail how a premature lamb whose lungs develop, like human, grew into a machine similar to the womb.
The lamb remained within four weeks of an amniotic bag similar to that of amniotic juice in a controlled environment.
If we can develop a similar system to enable growth for just a few weeks, we can substantially change the cases of children born too prematurely. Dr. Alan Flare, part of the research team.
Although the study was not intended to create a substitute device for the womb, in the future it may serve to prevent premature babies from staying in the Inquisition or, at the worst of times, losing their lives.
